How Axelerant Is Shaping the Future of Drupal with Experience Builder

Table of Contents

Introduction

DrupalCon Atlanta 2025 was a landmark moment for the Drupal community—with the launch of Drupal CMS 1.0, new innovation roadmaps, and major progress on the Experience Builder.

For Axelerant, it was also a moment of recognition. We were named one of the Top Makers in the community by Dries Buytaert during the keynote, spotlighted alongside key contributors like Acquia, Lullabot, and Salsa Digital.

This acknowledgment was a proud moment for us, especially as we continue to invest in shaping Drupal’s future—not just as users, but as active contributors.

For us, contribution isn’t a checkbox; it’s an extension of how we build, collaborate, and give back to the open web.

"Being recognized as a Top Maker isn’t just a milestone—it’s a moment of shared pride for everyone at Axelerant who believes in the power of open source to shape meaningful digital experiences."

Our Contributions to the Experience Builder

Axelerant has committed a dedicated team of three engineers who contribute full-time to the development and enhancement of the Experience Builder. From issue triaging to bug fixes, feature ideation, and refinement—our team is working closely with initiative lead Lauri Timmanee, maintaining a weekly cadence of collaboration.

We’re actively contributing to:

  • Cleaning up and refactoring code for better stability
  • Prototyping and testing emerging features
  • Engaging in early-stage discussions for future modules like Conditional Display of Components

This isn’t one-off involvement—it's an ongoing, purposeful contribution.

Why Experience Builder Matters

The evolution of Experience Builder was a highlight of the DrupalCon Atlanta keynote. With new features like multi-page editing, component-level control, and in-browser component creation using Tailwind and React, the Experience Builder is redefining what’s possible with Drupal—especially for non-developers.

And this isn’t theoretical. The Drupal leadership team showcased how marketers could generate components from just an image, powered by AI. It’s a signal that Drupal is not just keeping up—it’s leading.

Why This Recognition Matters

Being recognized as a Top Maker by Dries Buytaert at DrupalCon Atlanta isn’t just a badge of honor—it’s a reflection of the real, ongoing impact Axelerant is making on the future of Drupal.

We aren’t standing on the sidelines; we’re in the trenches—writing code, shaping initiatives like Experience Builder, and helping move Drupal CMS forward. And that level of contribution means something—not just to the community, but to the agencies and clients who rely on Drupal every day.
